I work and thrive at the zu

Soon it will be 3 years since I started at zu. I’m not an animal tamer. But my job is as exciting as feeding the lions at the real zoo, without the smells. The company is situated in the most unlikely of cities, Saskatoon. The small city doesn’t mean small town mentality at least for the 60 or so that work with me.
It’s unknown to most that work doesn’t have to feel like work. We are told that life is hard that we have to suck it up and be responsible. But enter into zu and you will see something much different. It feels more like school. We play and enjoy ourselves while constantly learning and exploring new technologies.
zu painting party
We are moving into a new building. Its massive and we wanted to attract some attention and cover the ugly windows until we are ready to move it. So we got to geather and spent the entire Saturday painting and playing. The fun continued into the night, but those pictures are for another post.

Potluck Day
All play and work make us very hungry. A couple times a year we do our best to prepare food for the pot potluck. Considering the nerdiness in all of us, I’m surprised how good the food ends up. Maybe we are just that hungry. You can tell when someone spent the entire night playing video games or validating CSS because the bucket of KFC.

Festivus: The Holiday for the Rest of Us
Here we are celebrating Festivus as well as having an ugly Christmas sweater day. I didn’t have a sweater so I decided to push the limits and borrow my woman’s sweaters. I must warn you, the sweater in the pictures bellow is a bit small.

Camp Zukamunga: Christmas 2008
Here are the photos from zu’s Christmas party. Its a yearly event and they are loads of fun. Every year there is a different theme and this year we compacted events of an entire summer camp into one evening.
